DELCON ENGINEERING
INTRODUCTION
The company was originally established in South Africa in 1980 for the purpose of manufacturing precision spare parts, which at the time could not be imported into the country; some of the major customers included Anglo American and
Goldfield Mines, Atlas Copco, Tamrock, to name a few.
Pursuant to urgent requests from the mining industry and in particular the gold sector, known for its extremely adverse operating conditions, in 1986 the company
started the development of Delta idlers and Rolls in the Johannesburg area.Products were designed in close co-operation with several mine conveyor operators, to ensure that their high expectations, in terms of reliability, longevity and serviceability were met, and manufacture of a complete range of Idlers and Rolls
was initiated that same year.
Since then, Delcon has continued to develop their products, offering a variety of Troughing, Impact, Training and Return idlers for belt width applications ranging from 450mm (18") to 1500mm (60").
The sealed for life 127mm (5") and 152mm (6") ball bearing type rolls are fabricated to S.A.B.S 1313 dimensional specifications and subjected to stringent quality and performance control requirements.
In 1995, Delcon Engineering acquired an injection moulding company, enabling integrated production of glass filled nylon bearing housing and seals, one of the features of all Delta products. The continuing growth of Delcon can undoubtedly be
attributed to its dedication to providing quality products and service support to their customers for over a decade; Delcon's flexibility allows the ability to respond to the customer's specific applications and operating requirements, and this within short
lead times.
